Who is at Risk?

C. diff can affect anyone but major risk factors may include:

  • Recent Antibiotic Use

    Those who have been taking antibiotics in the last 3 months

  • Immunocompromised Individuals

    Those with a weakened immune system due to cancer or cancer treatment, recent illnesses or chronic illnesses.

  • Over 65's

    Older individuals, particularly those over the age of 65.

  • Recent Hospital stay

    Those who have had a recent stay at a hospital or healthcare facility, or who live in an aged care residence.
