Diagnosis
If you think you have a C. diff infection then speak to your doctor or healthcare team.
It is important to mention if you have recently been taking antibiotics.
To diagnose an infection:
A sample of your poo will be taken and sent to the laboratory for testing.
The sample will be tested for the C. diff bacteria and the toxins it produces.
The test results will be returned to your healthcare team who will discuss with you any treatment that you may need.
If you are diagnosed with C. diff be sure to tell any future doctors or health care providers about your C. diff history as this may affect what medicines you are prescribed for other illnesses in the future.
